European Platform on preparedness for nuclear and radiological emergency response and recovery
The mission of the NERIS Platform is to establish a forum for dialogue and methodological development between all European organisations and associations taking part in decision making of protective actions in nuclear and radiological emergencies and recovery in Europe.
The 11th NERIS Workshop will take place at The Cumberland in London, as a satellite meeting of European Radiation Protection Week 2025, on 29th September for the full day (9:00 – 17:00).
Programme
This Workshop will be partly dedicated to PIANOFORTE projects related to Emergency Preparedness Response & Recovery (EPRR) topics, related to NERIS:
In addition, the NERIS community and international organizations will provide presentations on recent and new developmens related to EPRR, more specifically on:
Radiological impact assessments,
Transdisciplinary and inclusive framework for EPRR,
New nuclear technologies: EPRR for SMRs/AMRs,
Sustainability: EPRR relation with UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The 16th NERIS General Assembly was held via online-meeting, on June 30th, 2025. The General Assembly was attended by NERIS Supporting Organisations and Members, to review activites from 2024 and discuss orientations for the platform. A new Management Board was elected.
The 12th NERIS Workshop will take place at ASNR headquarters in Fontenay-aux-Roses, on 28-29-30 April 2026. For the first time in years, this Workshop will run on 2,5 days and will focus on sharing experience and lessons learned from the past and recent events.
The workshop will provide presentations from PIANOFORTE projects related to NERIS (CITISTRA, PREDICT, RRADEW, CATAPULT, GIROSCOPE, ...) and emerging topics of the community and international organizations.
The 7th European IRPA Congress, hosted by the UK Society for Radiological Protection (SRP), is set to take place from 1–5 June 2026 in Liverpool.
Call for Abstracts
Abstract submissions are now open for both oral and poster presentations. Oral submissions close on 30 September 2025, while poster submissions are accepted until 21 November 2025. Participants must create an Oxford Abstract account to submit their work. Detailed topic guidelines are available on the Congress website.
